An example of one of the standing whale jaw bone on Yttygran Island
One of the standing bowhead whale jaw bones with a fallen jaw bone in the foreground. In the distance are four passengers walking to the beach. One of the whale skulls that line the shore can be seen behind the standing jaw bone.
This was the first island visited by the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) and Ivy Sharp records that they arrived at about 0700. The weather was foggy, which turned to drizzle and then rain. They left at about 1120 as the weather deteriorated.
