Cast of a shilling token, Basingstoke canal, 1789. This currency was in circulation amongst the workmen cutting the Basingstoke Canal. The token depicts a barge, oar, wheelbarrow, pick and shovel. Two casts obverse and reverse, mounted on an emulsioned plywood backboard with a label.
