Warship; Ironclad

Scale: Unknown. A model of the starboard side of an ironclad warship (1853) made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull below the waterline is painted brown with a narrow cream stripe above, and black above the waterline. Fittings include fore, main and mizzen stumpmasts and a rudder. The model has a prominent ram bow and a vertical sheer at the stern. The model is mounted on a cream wooden backboard with a brown painted bevelled edge. Plaque inscribed "Design for an iron.cased.ship by Messrs, Napier & Sons 1853.".
