Warship; Turret ship
Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of a twin screw turret ship (circa 1867), made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted brown to resemble weathered copper below the waterline and black above. The deck, superstructure and all fittings are painted cream. Fittings include stump bowsprit, foremast and mainmast, and a single stump funnel. The model is displayed on a backboard painted cream with a mahogany-stained frame with bevelled edge. Inscribed on a plaque attached to the upper right-hand corner of the backboard is: ‘Design for a twin screw iron cased turret ship. Guns 4, Tons 402, HP 80. Proposed by Mr J G Laurie 1867’.
