HMS Medea (1888); Warship; Cruiser; Second class cruiser
Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the starboard side of the second class cruiser HMS Medea (1888), made entirely in wood and painted pink-brown below the waterline and black above. Hull details include a reinforced ram bow; starboard bilge keel; rows of portholes; gun placement amidships; propeller shaft casing and mounting; and rudder. Other details include a stump foremast, mainmast and two funnels, all painted ochre; wave deflector and capstan forward; and ventilator. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame with bevelled edge. On plaque attached to top right-hand side of backboard ‘Medea’.
