Cargo vessel; Lighter; Swim-head lighter
A shipbuilders plating model of a swim-head lighter (early 20th century), an unpowered vessel. The model is made from a single block of wood, finished in a natural colour and varnished. The hull has been marked with constructional details which include the size and disposition of frames, hull plates, bulkheads, weld lines and joints. On the upper face, markings include the layout of the deck frames and the cargo hatch. The model has no backboard.
