Scale: Unknown. A model of a Spencer's proposed anchor (1820-1822). The model is made in wood with a lead ring and is painted a uniform black. The shank is octagonal in section ending in a square section at the top with shoulders either side just below the lead ring. The arms and flukes are made in a single piece and pivot from side to side and are held onto the base of the shank by a large bolt secured in position with a fidded wedge. The palms are large and flat and almost face each other in a V-shape and resemble a very broad shaped leaf. At the crown, where the shank passes through, is a moulded eye through which a tripping rope could be attached. There are three paper labels applied to the shank, two of which are illegible, the other in numbered: '15'.
