Equipment model; Anchor model

Scale: 1:12. A model of a swivel armed anchor (1812) made largely from brass and is complete with a polished wooden stock. The main body of the anchor consists of a shank which is rectangular in section and has an aperture halfway down through which the crescent-shaped arms and smaller section of shank are allowed to pass from side to side. The arms can be locked in position by a square iron collar around the shank which can be raised or lowered by a pair of brass chains which run through the wooden stock to a large brass ring. The arms are held in position by a large steel pin and are square in section and taper towards the flat, triangular-shaped palms. The wooden stock is square in section where the shank passes through and then gradually tapers towards the end, with the lower edge also tapering upwards. The stock has been signed in black ink: '10 Mr Grant Portsmouth'.
