Sectional model; Bow model

Scale: Unknown. Sectional model of two alternative designs for the bow of a two-deck warship, depicting a square bow on the port side and a round bow on the starboard side. The model is made in wood and painted in realistic colours. The port side is painted brick red below the waterline and alternating black and ochre above. The two gun ports on the lower gun deck are shown closed and the two gun ports on the deck above are open.

The square bow rail is shown cut away where it meets the starboard section and this section of foredeck shows three gun ports, a cathead with garter star decoration, an officer's head, the crew's heads for accommodating four persons and a section of bowsprit. The starboard bow shows the improved method, painted identically to the port side except for white bands instead of ochre. The cathead is identical but is supported by a horizontal as well as vertical knee. The crewmen's heads are shown but there is no provision for officers.

A half section of bowsprit is depicted, it's position is higher than the half section on the port side. The section of foredeck is painted throughout a dark brown to simulate wood. The face of the model is left open to show the positions of the decks, frames and internal planking. The model is supported on two simple chocks.
