HMS Volage (1869); Warship; Iron screw corvette
Scale: Unknown. Sectional model showing the port bow of HMS Volage (1869), an iron screw corvette. The model has been carved from a single piece of wood and painted in realistic colours; the deck is painted buff yellow, the hull below the waterline in dark brick red and black above with yellow boot topping. Four rectangular port holes have been painted in a single row, and a hawse hole. The model has a pronounced keel. There are two paper labels on the upper deck face of the model one of which reads "No.15. Case. Cumb'l'd Room. (11)". A paper label has been applied to the black area of the hull marked "887". Two hanging brackets have been mounted to the rear face, and the remains of a bowsprit and foremast can be seen.
