Sectional model; Bow model; Waterline model

Scale: Unknown. A model of the circular bow of a first rate ship of the line made entirely in wood and mounted on an emerald green baseboard, the whole of which can be removed from a glazed mahogany display case. The hull is finished in the traditional black and yellow ochre lines depicting all three gun decks, with the interior of the gun ports and hawse pipes finished in red. Back of case slides off to reveal interior decks of model which are painted yellow ochre. The beakhead is fitted with a pair of catheads, circular boom kins, a shortened bowsprit, an ornate half bust female figurehead finished in gold paint with foliage trailboards below. The beakhead platform is enclosed by driftrail screens which are hinged, together with gratings and a pair of heads either side of the bowsprits. Plaque reads "7329. Model of a circular bow of a first rate line-of-battle ship by Thomas Roberts, Esq., ".
