Warship; 1st rate

Scale: Unknown. Sectional model of the stern of a 1st rate, three decker warship made almost entirely in wood with metal fittings. The portside shows the stern in frame with the starboard side in the finished condition. The outer hull of the starboard side is painted black overall, with the three gundecks highlighted with a thick, horizontal, white line. The the internal faces of the five gunports are painted red. The stern galleries consist of three layers of glazed windows, moldings and there are balustrades on two levels. The portside shows the framing which is painted dark brown, onto which has been applied several sections of black planking with the five gunports painted red on their internal faces. The quarter gallery consists of a series of vertical, wooden frames set at a slight angle and painted black and these connect between the four layers of the stern gallery floors and the roof at the top. Internally, the model is complete with four decks which have been painted and grained, two of which have some sections of deck planking missing. The ceiling planking surrounding the gun decks is painted sky blue on the lower gundeck and fleshy pink on the middle and upper gun decks with a creamy white on the quarter deck. The model is mounted on a stained and varnished rectangular baseboard with an applied and moulded edge and rests on four bun feet.
