The bed rests on a circular mahogany turntable enabling it to turn on its axis. The mortar is made from a solid block of turned wood, stained or painted black and polished. The tompion is turned from a solid piece of mahogany and has a brass D-ring attached to the top. The mortar is seated in the bed at an angle of about 45' but can be elevated.
