Royal Naval College Osborne uniform: pattern 1891
Monkey jacket of a cadet, Royal Naval College, Osborne. It belonged to R. J. P. Eden who died at the college on 13 October 1909 after two terms. Heavy, navy blue serge, double breasted with five holes and four buttons on each side. Padded turned down collar. On either side of the collar, a buttonhole of white twist 1 3/4" long with a corresponding button. Domed gilt buttons with a Tudor crown over a foul anchor. One outside left breast pocket and one inside right pocket.The coat is lined with tartan wool. Itis described in the regulations as a 'Loose fitting overcoat monkey jacket."
