Liquid compass

Liquid compass with stand.
Bowl- Brass, painted black, filler plug and expansion chamber at base. Inside of bowl is painted white with two black wire lubber lines. Verge glass has a metal centre with conical depression and a metal ring let into the glass. These form the terminals of wires of an electric lead, for use with the azimuth device (524B). Verge ring graduated to 360 degs attached to bowl 30 degs out of alignment because pointers of azimuth circle cannot be placed in fore and aft line and are displaced 30 degs from it. Mounted in brass gimbal ring which is attached by a metal bracket to a wooden stand. Dims 12.5" x 4.0" x 1.25" (31 x 10 x 3.2cm)
Card- Diameter 5.1" (13cm) metal (?) ring 0.75" (2cm) wide, painted white with black markings graduated to 360 degs. Attached by a light brass framework to a white float dome at centre.
Needle- Six needles of swuare section enclosed in brass cases, attached below framework on which card is mounted.
