Button, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1795-1812

Flat button with a twisted rope edge. On a circle with a smooth background is an oval with a twisted rope inner edge and a lined background. Within the oval is a fouled anchor with the left-hand side of the stock slanting slightly upwards to the left. The rope is tied to the ring at the top, it goes under the right-hand stock, then under the shank to the left, then under the shank to the right and then under the right-hand arm.
