Sword

Stirrup hilted sword. The hilt consists of a stirrup guard, lion's-head pommel and ivory grip with copper wire. The langets are engraved with a foul anchor. It has a broad, straight blade with one broad groove/fuller. The scabbard is black leather with brass gilt mounts. There are 'D' rings on each locket and a frog stud on the top locket. On the blade is the inscription: 'GR, J J Runkel Solingen'. This sword forms part of the Spinney Collection comprising sixteen swords, five dirks, three pistols AAA3114 (pair), AAA3115.
