About Raman Prinja MBE
Professor Raman Prinja MBE is Professor of Astrophysics in the Physics and Astronomy Department at University College London (UCL). His main research interests are in the studies of the evolution and properties of the most massive stars in our Galaxy. Beyond research and teaching, Prof. Prinja is deeply engaged in promoting astronomy to wider audiences. He has written more than 25 highly popular outreach-level books; he pens for 9+ ages in particular, including Planetarium, The Future of the Universe, Wonders of the Night Sky, Our Cosmos, and Wonders of the Moon.
In 2022 Raman was elected to the Fellowship of the Institute of Physics. He was appointed an MBE for services to academia and education in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours. In 2026 he was the awarded the Ian Robson Lifetime Achievement Award by the Royal Astronomical Society.
