Letter from Maskelyne to John Goodricke on Goodricke's discovery of the variable star Delta Cephei.

In this letter, Maskelyne refers to Goodricke's discovery and observations of the variable star Delta Cephei which Maskelyne promises to convey to the Royal Society. Maskelyne also refers to Michael Taylor's new 'Table of Logarithms' and similar publications by other mathematicians. At the end of the letter Maskelyne expresses his wish to create a telescope with a 12-inch lens that will beat Herschel's 20-foot long reflecting telescopes.
