Printed ephemera relating to Thursfield’s appointments in the Royal Navy:
(1) Menu card from the second annual dinner for the first commission of the battleship HMS INVINCIBLE (1907), held at The Grand Hotel, Trafalgar Square, London, on 21 September 1912. With signatures added by officers including Captain Mark E.F. Kerr.
(2) Programme for the pantomime ‘Alladin’ marking the centenary of the action between HMS SHANNON (1806) and the American frigate CHESAPEAKE in 1813, given by officers serving on the armoured cruiser HMS SHANNON (1906), on 31 May 1913.
(3) Invitation and menu from a dinner marking the visit of HMS CONCORD (1916) and other vessels of the 3rd Cruiser Squadron to Cartegena, Spain, in September 1924.
(4) List of places visited by the battleship HMS ROYAL OAK (1914) during her fifth commission in 1929-1932.
(5) Calling card used by Thursfield as a lieutenant.
(6) Album of ephemera mainly relating to Thursfield's service in HMS SHANNON (1906). Includes four copies of a programme for the pantomime 'Aladdin' marking the centenary of the action between HMS SHANNON (1806) and the CHESAPEAKE in 1813; Invitation for Thursfield to attend commemorative dinner at Hotel Metropole, Whitehall, 30 June 1913; Two issues of 'The Shamrock' ship's journal produced on HMS SHANNON, October 1913; March 1914 issue of 'HMS SHANNON'S Magazine'; Programme produced on HMS CONCORD (1916), 29 May 1923. Also contains 20 Christmas cards received by Thursfield circa 1913-1932 featuring various ships and stations.
