Volume of bound received letters 1800-1865
Volume includes letters from 1st Viscount Duncan. There is correspondence from 1830, regarding a candelabra which was presented by Prince Leopold to Hamilton as a token of his esteem, and later letters regarding crossings of the King and Queen of Belgium, including in 1841 for the christening of Victoria, Princess Royal, at which Leopold was a godfather. Also correspondence regarding the crossings of other royals including the Duchess of Kent and the Duchess of Cambridge. Some of the letters are in French.

Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan (1731-1804) was a British admiral who defeated the Dutch fleet off Camperdown on 11 Oct 1797. Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1790-1865) who had been married briefly to Princess Charlotte of Wales, 1816-1817, accepted the throne of Belgium in 1831, but retained close ties with Great Britain. The Duchess of Kent (1786-1861) was the mother of Queen Victoria. The Duchess of Cambridge (1797-1889) was a first cousin of Queen Victoria.
