Union Castle Liners from Great Britain to Africa 1945-1977 /William H. Miller.

A photographic record of the ships of Union Castle covering the post-war period from 1946 to their last sailing in 1977. Formed in 1900, the lavender-hulled Union Castle ships carried mail and passengers between the United Kingdom and South Africa until the mail contract and passengers were lost to air travel and cargo to containers. Illustrated throughout with photographs of ships and their interiors, a section on each ship provides a summary of her service record.
