The photographer is looking north-west from the south side of the top of the lock near the east end. The main plating appears to be complete and all riveting to the outer walls is finished. Note the multi-outlet gas supply system by the side of the number 8 strake, on the top of number 7 strake.

N25653; On board the torpedo damaged repair ship Albatross (1928) docked down in a dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard. This appears to be in a crew space on the lower deck looking across the deck to the ship's side and no work has yet been started to clear the debris. The deck itself has been forced up. Negatives numbers N25650 to N25653 inclusive are four different views taken in the same crew space, possibly No. 3 mess.

This view is looking from his personal desk showing a conference table in the foreground and a fireplace on the right. Naval message pads and ash trays are on the conference table. The ash trays are made from brass shell cases fired on D-Day, the nearest being a 4.7" from the Faulknor, then a 4" from the Roberts and a 5.25" from the Black Prince.

The holding cradle on the bench has been removed and a flat top placed over the recess. The inner cylinder of a mine that contains the detonating gear is on the bench and it has the number 1039 stensilled on it.

N25225; A steel box model suspended over the edge of No. 3 Basin in Portsmouth Dockyard. The square box has a welded rectangular centre panel securely bolted to the main box. A large number of the securing bolts are missing and the panel appears to have been dished in and cracked. "Burn to bevel both edges" is written on the bottom of the box.

Printed on the steel is the note "Tirpitz - deep transverse frame worked intercostally with intermediate bulkhead" and an annotated sketch showing whereabouts on the ship the piece had been taken from and the weight of the plate.
