French ship 'Sans Pareil' 3rd rate, 80 guns, captured at the Battle of the 1st of June, 1794
Technique includes scraped highlights. This was previously attributed to Dominic Serres (the elder) but cannot be by him since he died in 1793. It also has to be from 1801 on since the St Patrick saltire cross is included in the Union quadrant of the ensign. [amended PvdM, 10/20]
