        This is one of the set of etchings entitled ‘Verscheyde Schepen Gisichten van Amstelredam (Various ships in the neighbourhood of Amsterdam). On the left is a stern view of the two-masted, square-rigged  t'Geele Fortune (Golden Fortune), merchant ship, sailing eastwards on the left of the image; on the right is a port side view of the three-masted, square-rigged De Liefde (Charity) sailing northwards. De Liefde is towing a small tender and people are visible on the deck. t'Geele Fortuyn has open gun ports and visible cannons. Both vessels are flying unidentified flags from their mast heads. Coastline is visible on the horizon, along with two other vessels. A barrel bobs in the sea, lower right.
