Mixed flower arrangement
A watercolour sketch by William Lionel Wyllie. A cluster of purple wildflowers (possibly Aster flowers) occupies the centre of the composition. The purple flowers are complemented by light yellow flowers that feature most prominently at the centre of the arrangement. The sketch features delicate linear brushstrokes, which define the dark green stalks. The petals and pistils are handled with a similar degree of care and delicacy. A light water mark appears on the lower right edge of the work.
