Purfleet. For Dr Hughson's Description of London
Copper-plate print lettered, lower right of image 'For Dr Hughson's Description of London'. Purfleet is on the Essex (north) shore of the Thames, 16 miles east of London. It is possible that the house shown here belonged at some point to one of the Green family of shipbuilders and owners. David Hughson's 'New Description of London' and the area for thirty miles around was a multi-volume illustrated work issued between 1805 and 1809.
