HMS Hastings as a hulk
This picture has been attributed to John Whichelo, but this artist’s death in 1865 makes this attribution unlikely. The Hastings does not appear in the Navy List as a block ship (e.g. rigging and equipment removed), as shown here, until after the date of the artist’s death, which has now been established.
The hulk has been depicted in starboard-broadside view. In the right background can be discerned another hulk. Medium includes bodycolour.
