Gozo. 183
Medium includes graphite and ink. According to Lear's diary (Houghton Library, Harvard, MS Eng 797.3, (9)), he was on the island of Gozo from 16 to 23 March 1866. On Monday 19 March, he walked down from Rabat to the fishing village of Marsalforn, where this drawing may have been made. He describes Marsalforn as “a very quiet […] beach, with some 20 boats & as many bath houses.”
