Graphite with grey wash drawing of a hilltop fortress, after landscape background of Albrecht Dürer’s ‘Saint Anthony’ engraving (1519). For the background of his engraving, Dürer reused and reworked his ‘Pupila Augusta’ pen-and-ink drawing (circa 1498), now in the Royal Collection (RCIN 912175).
