Swiftsure
This pencil sketch depicts the bow of HMS ‘Swiftsure’ (1903) while under tow. Part of the tug, inscribed ‘Tug’, is visible in the lower left. The deck of the ‘Swiftsure’ is crowded with people. On the right, the artist has drawn three signal flags, annotated with their various colours (‘red, ‘white’, ‘yellow’ and ‘blue’). Inscribed ‘Swiftsure’, lower right. There is also a smaller sketch of a steam vessel on right. On the other side of the page is another pencil drawing, featuring a bow view of a vessel under steam.
