La Rochelle: view of the Quai Valin and lighthouse from the harbour
Oil painting. The Quai Valin, on the east side of the inner harbour at La Rochelle dates from 1808. Its notable feature is the lighthouse constructed as part of the building front along the quay. Everett may have taken this view from the Quai du Carenage which projects south into the harbour, dividing the working basin from a floating basin to the east.
