Hand-coloured. This is one of various images (which include sketches by J.M.W. Turner in the Turner Bequest at Tate Britain) recording the state visit to Britain of King Louis-Philippe of France in 1844. He arived at Portsmouth in the French steamer 'Gomer'. [PvdM 9/20]
