The frigate 'Blanche', 32 guns, capturing the French frigate 'La Pique', 40 guns, off Guadeloupe on 5 January 1795

'La Pique' was captured by the 'Blanche' off Guadeloupe on 5 Jan 1795. 'Blanche', with only her foremast standing, is shown left centre in port-broadside view, ahead of, and firing her stern guns at 'La Pique', also in port-broadside view, with all of her masts shot away. The whole is depicted in a calm sea with a setting full moon at extreme left.

PAG8933 is a pendant, depicting a key stage in the action over three hours earlier.
