A deck scene
Oil painting. A rather stylized view looking forward, from abaft the mainmast of a sailing ship (the most distant spar visible probably being the bowsprit) in rough weather. The ship appears to have a quarter deck nearly reaching the mainmast with a compass binnacle at the forward break, where a man in oilskins stands on watch. [PvdM 2/18]
