Richard Barrey (d. 1588)

A half-length portrait, slightly to the left, showing Barrey in a slashed white silk doublet, a black sleeveless coat with bands of gold embroidery and a small high ruff. His coat of arms on shield is in the top right-hand corner.
Richard Barrey was the Governor of Dover Castle during the Armada campaign of 1588. He had previously overseen the rebuilding of Dover harbour.
