Charles II, 1630-1685
A late copy based on a portrait type by Sir Peter Lely of around 1675, of which many copies and variants exist. He wears a black wig, a tied lace cravat and a breastplate over a yellow embroidered coat. A chain on the breastplate supports a badge which appears to be the George of the Order of the Garter. The same head was used by Lely for other designs including three-quarter and full-lengths.
