William Palmer (fl.1766-1798), mapmaker

A half-length portrait, very slightly to the right, showing Palmer in a black coat with gilt buttons and a cream waistcoat with a green stripe. He wears a wig.
William Palmer was an engraver of maps who worked in Islington. His work appears in a number of atlases published between 1766 and 1798; he engraved four map plates for the accounts of James Cook’s voyages.
