S.S. Swift, London

This watercolour shows a port broadside view of the General Steam Navigation Company paddle-powered passenger/cargo ship ‘Swift’, launched in 1875. A distant coast is visible on the extreme left. The ship’s name is inscribed on the bow and there are several figures on the deck, including women passengers. Signed by the artist, lower left, and inscribed ‘S.S. Swift, London’ in decorative hand beneath in the image.
