H.M.S. Speedy
This pen-and-ink sketch depicts a starboard broadside view of the 14-gun brig sloop Speedy (launched 1782). The ship flies the white ensign from the gaff and a commissioning pennant from the main masthead. A single figure can be seen in a small boat at the vessel’s stern. Inscribe beneath the image ‘HMS Speedy’. Initialed and dated by the artist in the lower right ‘BL/1936’.
