Interment of Nelson at St Paul's, 9 January 1806

Nelson’s coffin lies on a catafalque directly beneath the dome. Around it are thousands of spectators in specially erected stands. A huge lantern made for the occasion with 130 individual lamps lights the scene. Captured French and Spanish ensigns hang from the galleries.
