The West Indiaman 'Flora'

The merchantman ‘Flora’ is shown in two positions off a white cliff coastline: centrally, arriving from left under full sail, starboard-broadside on, and at right, in port-quarter view, turning towards the shore, with topgallants and royals reefed and several men aloft further reducing her sail. She is identified by her name ("Flora" and "London", separated by a large star) on the stern counter. The location could be either Dover or possibly, if the hazy triangular masses added in the distance at extreme left are intended to be the Needles, the south coast of the Isle of Wight, off Freshwater Bay.

Signed and dated W. I. Huggins 1834 bottom-left.
