The ship 'Gitana'

Ship portrait. Oil painting of the full-rigged ship 'Gitana', flying her code number and a white house flag, and calling for a pilot ( for which the Union surrounded by a white border at the fore is a signal). She is in starboard-broadside view and identified by her name on the hull. A pilot cutter is approaching under her bow with the cliffs round Dover and the Admiralty Pier there seen beyond. For details of the artist, see BHC3217.
