Fores's Marine Sketches. The Schooner Yacht America, 170 Tons

A broadside port view of 'America' in calm waters. A coastal view provides the backdrop, with buildings to the right and the headland to 'America's bow end. The print is inscribed: "The Schooner Yacht, America, 170 Tons. Winner of the RYS Cup value £100 Augt 22nd 1851 and of a Match with the Tatania for £100 August 28th 1851. Built by Mr Steers for J C Stevens Esqre Commodore of the New York Yacht Club to whom this print is by permission respectfully dedicated by the publishers Messrs Fores."
