The 'Sutlej' East Indiaman, 1200 Tons
Print entitled 'The ''Sutlej'' East Indiaman, 1200 Tons'. The ship was built in London in 1847, probably by Green's, and for their London to India run. Here she flies their Blackwall line house flag at the main and Blue Peter (P) at the fore indicating she is setting out. She appears to be sailing from off Portsmouth, having just dropped a pilot in the cutter to the left. There is a two-decker warship in the far left distance and other shipping, including a steam vessel on the right. The artist has signed in the image, lower right. See also PAH0601.
