The snow Mary Ann
A double ship’s portrait of the ‘Mary Ann’ broadside-on under sail. She is shown off the mouth of the Tyne, flying the signal for a pilot and her signal letters as well as the flag of her name from the main mast. At the left she is shown again in stern view, in tow of the paddle tug.
The painting is signed and dated in light toned paint in lower right corner ‘J. Scott 1864’.
