HMS Phaeton
H.M.S. Phaeton is depicted in this oil painting in port broadside view. All her sails are hoisted, except for the mizzen mainsail, but the lower courses are looped for action. Indeed, her gun ports are open with cannons visible. However, only a couple of crew are shown on the deck. An ensign flies from the stern gaff and a long pennant from the mainmast.
