View of Dunkirk in the 17th century
Painting. The basis of attribution to Backhuysen is not known, but it is unlikely and the picture more probably early 18th century British school or by a Dutch hand working there. See also BHC1793 for a variant as regards the shipping but with the same topography, of which there is also another version recorded. [PvdM 10/14]
