Official ship's badge of HMS Sirdar
Ship's badge of HMS 'Sirdar' 1918. It is an official design, a shield shape with a gold rope twist border, a naval crown above. 'SIRDAR' is inscribed in the name tablet. The badge depicts the Order of British India on a white background. The pattern was approved in February 1927. The badge is made of brass, painted and drilled for attachment. The Order of British India (obsolete after 1947), was awarded for gallantry. The holders were entitled to use the title 'Sirdar Bahadur' (heroic leader). HMS 'Sirdar' was a 'S' Class destroyer launched by Fairfield in 1918. She was sold in 1934.
