Isaac Newton
A half-length, full-face portrait (body slightly to the right) within a painted oval, showing Newton wearing a full-bottomed wig in a brown gown, a white, open-collared shirt and either a blue sash or waistcoat. The portrait, by a J. Smith, is a rather crude later copy of Godfrey Kneller's 1702 portrait of Newton now in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery (NPG 2881).
